Tenuta Poggio Il Castellare Brunello di Montalcino 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

"“2007 BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINOS ARE SUPERLATIVE QUALITY” – JAMES SUCKLING!Dried strawberry and flowers, with hints of vanilla cream aromas follow through to a full body with ripe, silky tannins and a pretty berry aftertaste. The balance and finesse to this wine is beautiful" - JS 94pts

Earthy, peppery, strong without being overbearing. A great Brunello.

Loads of balsam intensity with eucalyptus, ground ginger, cola, dried fruit and crandegrave;me de cassis. This wine also adds a pretty floral note of red rose petal or potpourri that really steals the show. Loads of balance and complexity. Smooth, long finish, good length. Drink after 2015.

An enticing mix of macchia, mint, iron, cherry and raspberry aromas and flavors get caught up in the firm, taut structure. Shows fine intensity and expression of place, with a lingering finish of spice and underbrush. Best from 2014 through 2028. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.

Some slightly rustic elements remain, yet there is so much going on in the glass that the wineandrsquo;s small flaws are easy to forgive. Smoke, tar and licorice infuse the huge finish. Anticipated maturity: 2015andndash;2025.
