Marchesi de' Frescobaldi is one of Italy's most historic wine producers, dating to the 1300s. They are also one of the most significant producers in Italy, with nine different estates—and roughly 2,500 acres, all in Tuscany. This Super Tuscan blend is from their Castiglioni estate in the heart of Tuscany. The vineyards line the hills at 600-800 feet elevation. The focus here is on Bordeaux varietals with just 10% Sangiovese in the blend with 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barriques. James Suckling scored this 91 points saying "Aromas of minerals, mint and spices with dried herbs and blackberries. Full-bodied, with firm tannins and bright fruit."
