On the nose, it showed a floral perfume with lush red and blue fruits; a bit rustic but only enough to be true to its Italian roots. On the palate, it showed sweet wild berries and spice, with vibrant acidity and an elegant, long finish.

The Tenuta di Blasig is one of the oldest wineries in Friuli Venezia Giulia that has remained in the same family over the generations. It was founded in 1788 by Domenico Blasig at Ronchi dei Legionari. Elisabetta Bortolotto Sarcinelli is the seventh generation of the family leading the Tenuta di Blasig. She is aided by a team of people passionate about wine, almost all of whom happen to be women. We're passionate about her wine!Tenuta di Blasig Merlot comes from the winery's 16 hectares of vineyards in the Isonzo del Friuli DOC, planted in alluvial soils near the Isonzo River and the Adriatic Sea. The wine is 100% Merlot, medium-full in body with a color of deep garnet red. It offers pleasant aromas and flavors of blackberries, blueberries and raspberries and a rich, velvety palate. The wine was aged in stainless steel with no oak. It is beautifully balanced, reminiscent of a fine Pomerol, and finishes with length and grace. Enjoy Tenuta di Blasig Merlot over the next 5-6 years with roast duck, grilled chicken, BBQ ribs, pasta and aged cheeses.
