Food Pairings for Tenuta Dell'Ornellaia Supertuscan Blend Toscana IGT le Volte
The nose showed red currant, fall leaves, green pepper and a hint of oak. On the palate, this wine was like velvet, as currant and spicy dark woods glimpsed out from a shroud of tannin. It was gorgeously balanced with vibrant acidity and will likely age into something reminiscent of old school Bordeaux. The 2007 Ornellaia may not be for the fan of large-scale cabernet but I have a feeling there is a huge market of traditionalists that will love this wine
A purplish black core with a medium to full body. On the nose, there are loads of dark berries with a wonderful cream like aspect from the oak treatment. Its bouquet is surprising soft and delicate for a wine of its stature. In the mouth, it is fresh, clean and juicy. It delivers loads of blackberry, sweet herbs and currant up front. It glides softly and without effort to dark tannins that caress the palate. The finish lingers beautifully and in general, this wine has great balance. 90 points
GREAT WINE. NOT OVERDONE! :)
Had the Le Volte 2007 for dinner last week . Was very good but still a bit young. Few days ago was blind tasting 21 Italian IGT wines and I could identify the wine I had 4 days ago. Was suspicious and later I found out it was Le Volte. I find the wine well balanced with a refined soft tannin and a firmly held structure in mouth. The finish is smooth with aromas of ripe berries.

99 Points-Wine Enthusiast - The 2007 Ornellaia is a masterpiece blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and a tiny element of Petit Verdot. The intensity and purity are outstanding and th
The vintage weather conditions encouraged the development of an Ornellaia which shows elegance and development ofrichly-faceted aromatics, with its classic dark, intense ruby colour. Fully-ripened fruit pervades the nose, withcrisply-delineated dark wild berry fruit and spice, with balsamic notes. On the palate, exceptionally glossy,velvet-smooth tannins immediately impress, along with intense notes of fruit and spice. Good volume and depthcontribute to an overall harmony of all its components, suitably crowned by a long-lingering finish infused witharomatic fruit and balsamic impressions and marked by a healthy vein of tannins that promise a long and salutarydevelopment.
2007 began with a very mild Winter, with less rainfall than usual. As a result bud break occurred about 10 days early.Spring was mild too, with rains coming just when they were required, which allowed excellent vegetative growth and ledthe vines to flower early. June rains, which occurred throughout Tuscany, accompanied the development of the grapes.Summer finally started with a July, which was hot and dry, followed by an August which was cooler, with classicmid-month thunderstorms that slowed the ripening of the grapes, bringing the projected harvest date in line with theaverage. A perfect September with brilliant sun, mild temperatures, and little rain permitted a perfectly slow, steadyripening of the grapes, concentrating polyphenols and aromatic compounds, without leading to any over-ripeness.
Ornellaia Bolgheri DOC Superiore is the Estate's flagship wine which embodies the quality philosophy of the Estate. Resulting from a very rigorous selection, the wine is a remarkable cuvee of Cabernet
This iconic Bolgheri red, every vintage proves to be one of Italy's absolute best. The 2007 is a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot aged 18 months in French oak barriques. The Wine Spectator scored it 97 points saying A wine that does everything right and puts it all in beautiful balance. Full-bodied, yet reserved, silky and elegant, with wonderful fruit and friendly tannins. Best after 2012." Very Limited!
Le Volte embodies Ornellaia's philosophy of harmoniously blending noble Tuscan grape varieties with the rich flavor of the terroir. The 2007 vintage presents ample slightly spicy fruity aromas and is round and full on the palate combining Sangiovese's Mediterranean generosity with Cabernet Sauvignon's structure and Merlot's softer notes to make for an extremely pleasant Super Tuscan. [52% Sangiovese 36% Merlot 12% Cabernet Sauvignon]
