Rating: 16/20 - As reviewed by Jancis Robinson Very deep, dark purplish crimson. Nose still young and muted but deeply nuanced. Polished, some oak. Still very chewy end but promising. Slightly dry on the finish for the moment but very flattering.

Very accessible with just 15-30 mins of air. Red fruit and tobacco on the nose. Very round and balanced with moderate integrated tannins. Very pleasant, though not highly complexity. May drink now; still has lots of life, but not sure it will improve. KAB and JAR LOVED it.

"Very dark ruby with a purplish core. Red and black fruits mingle with spicy clove on the nose, followed by raspberry jam, chocolate and cinnamon on the palate. Even fresher and more delineated than the 1999 bottling, with superb focus and concentration. Very ripe tannins envelop the back end, which is underscored by a distinct mineral component and a hint of bell pepper. Succulent and classy at the same time...94 points." WA 92 (4/2007): Nothing in particular stands out about the 2000 Ornellaia, instead the whole is clearly greater than the sum of its parts. This blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc is a seamless beauty, showing exceptional purity with notable length on the palate and no hard edges. While the 2000 may not have the structure or complexity of the best vintages it will provide exceptional drinking now and to age 15, give or take. 92/Anticipated maturity: 2007-2015.
