Tenuta Delle Terre Nere Etna Rosso 2012
Feudo di Mezzo is the largest cru in the appellation, a homogenous character, but with clear qualitative variations - much like one could say of Clos Veugeot in Burgundy. From the best parcels - such as our "Quadro delle Rose" - it betrays a dusky character, autumnal tones in its cedary-spicy bouquet. Always the fist to be harvested, Feudo di Mezzo is also always the one readiest to open up and generously deliver itself. Of all crus it is supremely silky, its tannins suave, its bouquet darkly debonair. I love it as it ages effortlessly, its crepuscular nature picking up light as it ripens. Poultry, pork, game, lasagne, braised meats.

Deep ruby color. Spicy with a hint of smoke. Strong mouth feel but soft tannins
External Reviews for Tenuta Delle Terre Nere Etna Rosso
The 2012 Etna Rosso shows a fascinating bouquet with dried herb, balsam tones and beautiful background notes of dried fruit and mineral. The wine evolves quickly in the glass and is really quite remarkable in terms of its intensity. It consists of 98% Nerello Mascalese and a tiny part Nerello Cappuccio aged in oak for up to 11 months. Again, you get remarkable quality with Tenuta delle Terre Nere at impressively low price points. Drink 2015–2022.
Fresh and elegant, with a core of ripe crushed cherry and wild strawberry fruit. The chewy tannins impart supple structure and weight, while hints of ground anise, dried thyme and smoky mineral add complexity and linger on the finish. Drink now through 2022.
Good bright red. Wild nose shows red cherry, quinine, aromatic herbs and balsamic vinegar. Big, rich and backward, with a distinctly medicinal quality to the balsamic red fruit flavors. Finishes with major mouth-clenching tannins that will need at least three years in bottle to smooth out. A much more tannic, massive Etna Rosso than usual from this estate.
