Te Mata Estate Red Bordeaux Blend Hawkes Bay Coleraine 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

From New Zealand's Hawkes's Bay, this 45% Cab. Sauvignon, 37 % Merlot and 18%Cab. Franc is rated as New Zealand's top Bordeaux blend, aged for 20 months innew & seasoned barrels, resulting a cool, chiselled, extremely elegantwine. Magenta in colour and aromas of blackcurrants, very ripe cherries andmarzipan. Perfectly ripe and floral, it shows flavours of brambly blackcurrantsand dark cherry syrup with hints of rosemary. The palate is powerful withfine-grained tannins leading to a long, firm finish. A significant qualitativestep up on the 2004, drinking now but will develop further till 2013. Matchwith a peppered side of beef. (David Berry Green, BBR Buyer)
