Taylor's Lbv Port Presented In a Deluxe With Acces 2007

External Review by WineExpress.com:

Taylor Fladgate is considered by many to be the Chateau Latour of Port. Always firmly structured and richly endowed, this Late Bottled Vintage 2010 is a prime example of the signature house style. This 2011 was cored 91 points by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. They said "The 2011 Late Bottled Vintage Port (bottled in October 2015) is a field blend aged for 58 months. It comes with a bar top cork and 106 grams per liter of residual sugar. Inky black, this highly extracted Port has sensual texture and an unctuous finish laced with delicious, primary fruit flavor. It's a rather sexy LBV this year, big, dense and mouth-coating. It has a fair bit of power, too. For an LBV to drink now, this is simply beautiful. It is not necessarily expected to go anywhere--it's made for drinking now--but it can certainly hold if you choose to do so, barring cork failures."

Very dark, tar, spicy berry. An affordable LBV with good fruit and richness.

Nic liked this more than I did. We disagreed about the alcohol--I felt it was overpowering, Nic felt like it was well balanced. I preferred the Osborne 2003 LBV, but it doesn't have a stopper cork.

Deep maroon color to this wine with a nose that is restrained and waiting to develop. A nice minerally chocolate component is the first thing to really hit me followed by dark fruits, deep and mysterious with light strawberry/violet wisps. Nice and round in the mouth with a firm acidity gentle tannins and a medium sweetness that leaves your mouth fresh on the finish. Lot's of chocolate and violets on this wine, followed by a pure minerality that I associate with schist for better or worse. As I go back to the wine the nose begins to show more and more violets and the palate starts to develop anise, and dark cherry notes, all the time encased in a dark chocolate exterior. Nice wine.

This is a mature, deliciously perfumed and structured wine. There is a great milk chocolate flavor that balances the flavors of candied fruits.

The best-selling LBV keeps up its quality impressively. With its flavors of rich fruit cake and ripe tannins, it is soft and supple, and ready to drink without aging. But it has a touch of elegance and style that pushes it well up in quality.

Has berry character, but it's slightly funky, with old wood and earth notes. Medium- to full-bodied and medium sweet, with silky tannins and an earth and berry aftertaste. Drink now.
