What to Expect

Port wine is one of the great dessert wines of the world. Based on a blend that usually features Touriga Nacional, vintage Port is a rich red wine witch is fortified with grape spirits. It combines the chewy, tannic bite of red wine with a sweetness that helps buffer the added alcohol and supports the spicy plum and dark berry fruits. Vintage Port is capable of aging and improving for decades. Other types of Port include Ruby Port, which is enjoyed in its youth for it fresh fruit, Tawny Port, which has been aged in wood for years giving it its tawny color and progressively nuttier flavors as the wine increases in age, and Colheita port, which is a Tawny Port from a single vintage.

Winemakers Notes

Taylor’s finest and rarest wine, the very pinnacle of port. Only in a year when everything is perfect does Taylor's ‘declare’ a vintage. With the company’s reputation at stake, ‘declaring’ is not taken lightly, since it invites a knowledgeable and worldwide audience to judge whether perfection has indeed been achieved.

The ultimate collector’s wines, Taylor's Vintage Ports will last for fifty years or more. They are renowned for their massive structure, concentration of flavor and distinctive ‘masculine’ style. Bottled after two years in wood, read more...

Robert Parker: 98 Douro, Portugal- Inky purple in color, this youngest Taylor vintage Port boasts a floral, wonderfully open and appealing bouquet, backed by layers of rich fruit. What make this wine extra special is the seductive texture-somewhere between creamy syrupy-and ample length. Wine Enthusiast

... displays a black color and a salty, graphite-laced nose packed with sweet black fruits that is reminiscent of a stellar vintage of Chateau Latour. With air, notes of molasses, burnt sugar, spices, and jammy plums emanate from the glass. Full-bodi... Robert Parker. A Port wine from Douro in Portugal. 2003 Taylor Fladgate Vintage Port 750ml
