Taylor Fladgate Tawny 30 Year Old Tawny Port NV
Taylor’s is one of the few remaining houses to produce a 30 year old aged tawny port. Selected red ports produced in the eastern areas of the Douro Valley, including Taylor’s own estates, are matured in seasoned oak casks in Taylor’s cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. Here the cool and damp coastal climate encourages a slow and gentle ageing process, producing aromas of great complexity and finesse. The 30 year old tawny is bottled when ready to drink and does not require any further ageing in bottle.
External Reviews for Taylor Fladgate Tawny 30 Year Old Tawny Port
Shows incredible length with smooth butterscotch and caramel flavours.
Smoky, deeply pitched aroma of toasted almond. Full and sweet, with impressive fruit and inner-mouth perfume. Minerally, firm and bright, but a bit more fiery than the 30-year-old version from Fonseca.
An intensely mellow tawny with evolved flavors and aromas of chocolate, butterscotch, toffee and roasted nuts, this wine is rich and voluptuous in the mouth, with a honeyed, layered texture supported by an excellent balance of acidity which carries into the lingering finish.
Only every two or three years is a reserve of port with sufficient structure, fruit and power to age, produced from Taylor's own vineyards, laid aside to age in oak casks. Those that have reached their peak after thirty years are then blended together for balance and finesse, and to ensure consistency of quality and style. The 30 year old tawny shows incredible length with smooth butterscotch and caramel flavours.
