Tardieu-Laurent Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc-Vieilles Vignes Frankrig Rhône Lourmarin Hvidvin 2007
"A 100% Grenache cuvee from the sandy soils of a 106-year-old, biodynamically farmed La Crau vineyard, and aged in both foudre and tank, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Speciale is amazing. Abundant notes of melted licorice, kirsch liqueur, and flowers is followed by a full-bodied, seamlessly constructed wine with sensational purity, texture, depth, and length. The bad news is there are only 2,000 bottles. This 2007 should drink well for two decades or more...94-96." WA 10/08

Bright, jammy fruit with great balance. I very much enjoyed this wine. Actually more so than the Chateuneuf Du Pape we tasted today. -Tasted at Marché Bacchus 11/14/09

Stunning, with a terrific range of fig sauce, blackberry confiture, blueberry and linzer torte flavors layered with spice, mesquite, fruit cake and sweet earth notes. The long finish is riveted by minerality. So lush and accessible that this may be burning the candle at both ends, but it does so beautifully. Drink now through 2023.
Full bodied and concentrated, with a long, chewy finish, this wine gets points for being complex as well. Itandrsquo;s plummy yet savory, with touches of braised beef, coffee and black olive. Drink 2013andndash;2023.

Opaque ruby. Highly perfumed bouquet of red and dark berry preserves, flowers, fruit pit and sassafras. Sweet, palate-staining black raspberry and mulberry flavors are framed by velvety tannins and become spicier and more energetic on the back end. Big and gripping but surprisingly graceful wine with very good finishing lift and precision. This saw no new oak.
The 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes Cuvee Speciale is composed primarily of Grenache with a touch of Cinsault. While the two previous Chateauneufs were made from destemmed fruit, this offering includes 100% stems. All from the famed La Crau parcel, it was made from 80-year old vines, and boasts 15% alcohol. Loads of pepper, garrigue, licorice, seaweed, and sweet currant, cherry, and plum-like fruit emerge from this full-bodied, fleshy, ripe, low acid Chateauneuf du Pape. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.
Very juicy, but stylish and focused, showing a core of plum and blackberry fruit woven with spice, fruitcake and incense notes, followed by a long, streamlined finish. Should flesh out nicely in the short term. Drink now through 2010. 5,000 cases mad... Wine Spectator.
