User Reviews for Tapistry
Add your reviewWhile 98 wasn't so good to California cab, BV exceeded expectation and 10 years later this wine is drinking deliciously. The flavors are distinctly California Cabernet, but focused, clearly defined against and within each other, delivered gently to the nose and the palette. The finish seems infinite and teases the tongue with chocolatey, coffee hints and makes you come back to see if there is yet another secret unraveled in the glass.
Elegant a refined, though flavors have perhaps faded slightly at this point. Opened tight and restrained; benefitted from 20-30 mins of decanting.
Although the 1998 BV Georges de Latour isn't as impressive as the 94 or 97, it is still a very enjoyable vintage. The wine was very closed upon initial uncorking. However, after an hour or so in the decanter it really opened up and revealed a nice bouquet of fruits, spices, leather and a hint of oak. On the palate, it delivered layers of black currants, cherries, dark plum and coffee. In the glass, it was a dark crimson color. Decanting softened up the tannins to deliver a well balanced wine.

Winemaker's Notes:
The 1998 Tapestry is a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 2 % Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Dark ruby in color, the 1998 Tapestry’s aromas evoke scents of black cherry, herbs, vanilla-oak and some black pepper. Medium-full bodied, the wine’s fruit flavors are at the forefront; cherry and blackcurrant, followed by nuances of licorice, dark chocolate and peppercorn.
