What to Expect

Merlot has gotten a bad rap as of late but there is no denying the wine's appeal. Packed with deep, dark berry fruit and nuanced hints of cocoa, herb and earth with a soft structure. Its velvety texture makes Merlot instantly appealing and an obvious alternative to similar, more tannic Bordeaux varieties.

Tasting Notes

Firm and focused on the palate this is one big Merlot. The flavors are almost piercing in their intensity with loads of classic dark cherry and ripe berry that lingers and becomes more intriguing in the mouth with the rich tannins.

"Go ahead and call Ron Coleman a Merlot aficionado. For the second straight vintage, this relatively new Walla Walla producer has nailed our coveted top rating with his signature red. From the start, this Merlot is rich in black cherries, smoky vanilla and complex spice aromas. The mouth-filling flavors include ripe plums and cherries. Bravo!"

Firm and focused on the palate this is one big Merlot. The flavors are almost piercing in their intensity with loads of classic dark cherry and ripe berry that lingers and becomes more intriguing in the mouth with the rich tannins. Winemaker Ron Coleman selected fruit from seven vineyards to compose a wine of exceptional beauty. Simultaneously well built and willowy, its flavors lead with succulent red plum, mocha and spice. Its amazing texture engages the palate while dancing above it. Savor this with something simple, like slow-roasted pork. -Wines & Spirits

Good Washington merlot, with muscle, extract and plenty of stuffing. Flavors run to the dark side - blue/black fruits, mineral, licorice and smoke.

From the winery: An abnormally cold arctic blast caused damage to some of our the vineyards that Tamarack utilizes, forcing additional exploration of new grape sources with tremendous results. Tamarack achieved the quality it sought of highly extracted, very ripe and balanced wines.
