Taltarni Sparkling Shiraz 2013

Winemaker's Notes:

*** NEW STOCK DUE END OF JANUARY 2017 *** *Silver - International Wine Challenge, 2015* Established in 1969, Taltarni is one of the founding wineries of Victoria's Pyrenees wine region. Owner John Goelet, a direct descendant of the Guestier wine merchant family of Bordeaux, discovered and purchased Taltarni Vineyard in 1972 after conducting a worldwide search for a site comparable to the great vineyards of Bordeaux. Today, Taltarni combines old-world traditions with innovative new-world techniques to produce a diverse range of high-calibre still wines and méthode-traditionnelle crafted sparklings. Exclusively sourced from Talarni’s single vineyard shiraz, this fruit is indicative of the terroir of the Pyrenees wine region. “Lovely blackcurrant fruit highlighted with notes of chocolate and spice, this wine shows magnificent depth and persistence. On the palate the sweetness has married perfectly with robust tannins from the Pyrenees to produce a velvety texture. This wine has the elegance and structure expected from our terroir and delivers in every aspect required from this fantastic style of wine.” Winemaker Comments “The final wine from this estate which blew me away was the newly released 2013 Taltarni, Sparkling Shiraz, Pyrenees - a bright, black cherry and chocolate concoction with a velvety texture and crisp finish, this is one Sparkling Shiraz which doesn’t need time to sort itself out because it is raring to go right now. Even the sceptics (still 99% of the UK, sadly) will not be able to resist its charms!” Matthew Jukes, 100 Best Australian Wines 2015/16
