Talbott Logan Chardonnay Slh United States California Monterey County Santa Lucia Highlands White 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

"The 2008 Chardonnay Logan (a selection from the Sleepy Hollow Vineyard) is a slightly fruitier, more structured style of Chardonnay from Talbott. Light straw-colored, the wine displays notes of nectarine, kiwi, orange marmalade, honey, and subtle oak. Cutting a broad swath across the palate, it is full-bodied, rich, and impressively endowed. It is the best Talbott Chardonnay in a number of years...92" WA 08/10

"Rating: 92/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the October 2010 issue. Never a wine that falls short on full and outgoing expression

Rating: 84/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the October 2010 issue. Early smells and flavors of candied apples disappear too quickly in both nose and mouth, and the transition to lemon drop sourness also happens all too fast and with less than inviting results. Time may help slightly, but no amount of cellaring is going to provide fruit that is not there.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Unlikely to improve with further aging.

Rating: 92/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the October 2010 issue. Never a wine that falls short on full and outgoing expression, this latest version of Talbott's flagship effort boasts a dramatic yet mannerly blending of creamy, toasty oak with roasted lemons and a very solid background of brisk apple scents. Its fullness on the palate is unmistakable but so too is its great depth and polish, and if its distinct fruit is less than frontal, it is not without plenty of length and staying power. Some will find it drinkable now. We would prefer to wait a year or two for added layering to develop.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Further bottle aging can improve this wine.
