Talbott Kali Hart Chardonnay 2008
Kali Hart is named for Robb's youngest daughter, Kalin Hart. First introduced in 1999 (1997 vintage), the style of this wine is meant to showcase regional characteristics of the cool growing area of the Monterey County. This Chardonnay is light straw in color with a youthful greenish hue and excellent clarity. The rich, inviting nose shows bright tropical fruit notes. This vibrant tropical fruit continues on the palate with flavors of pineapple and honeydew melon, complemented by refreshing acidity. A generous mid-palate gives way to a bright focused finish with citrus elements of lemon and tangerine and mineral notes. Kali Hart Chardonnay is intended to be enjoyed within two to four years.
Editorial Reviews for Talbott Kali Hart Chardonnay
This has gently leesy and barrel induced notes framing the cool, and crisp orchard fruits and pineapple of the nose. Nicely balanced in the mouth with a rich, round feel and lightly buttery notes that work well with the bright, white fruit tones. It’s medium bodied and toes a fine line between a maintaining a lighter, fresher character while delivering more typical flavors such as the medium length finish with it’s touch of butterscotch. 89pts
golden hues, aromas of pear, apples, citrus with crisp acidity, vanilla, buttercream, oak in taste. med/full bodied, smooth and delicious
Outstanding chardonnay for the asking price! - Tasted at UNLVino 4/10/10
I have enjoyed Kali Hart since the very first vintage, it was then and still is well made, and an incredible value. This Chard is as elegant and nuanced as its bigger, pricier Talbott Chardonnay brothers. Beginning with the current 2008 vintage the production of this wine has been greatly reduced; so don't expect to find it just anywhere.
This is an exceptional bargain and has been our standard house chardonnay since the first release (2001). It has held up well in blind tastings against chardonnays costing twice as much. It is well balanced with a trace of oak and a long, complex aftertaste. Most of the vintages have been outstanding except for the 2003 which was a tad oxidized. The 2008 is lighter, racier an more forward than the others. We compared the 2001 against the first line Talbott chardonnay of the same year in 2007 and the Kali Hart competed very nicely.
Light, crisp, floral. A Sauv Blanc drinker's Chardonnay.
Tastes like green olives. Couldn't get past that for a second glass. Usually Talbot's wines are great.

Crisp, with flavors of lemon, stewed apple, peanuts and toasty oak that carry through the finish. Drink now through 2003.
Kali Hart is the youngest of the Talbott's children and like her, this wine is the most recent addition to the Talbott wine family. This medium-bodied Chardonnay is fresh and exuberant, with the distinctive Talbott style of lush tropical fruit, toasty oak and minerals, and a long, citrus-filled finish.
This is an everyday sort of Chard that earns credit for ripe, tropical fruit flavors, good acidity and veneer of oak. Thin on the finish, but a good value.
Lovely pineapple, lemon curd and peach flavors veer toward ripe and candied, with pretty oak shadings, juicy acidity and a lingering finish. Drink now through 2010.
An ultrarich, almost syrupy style, with concentrated citrus, pineapple and tropical fruit flavors that offer hints of ripe pear and green apple along with a hint of celery. Drink now through 2008.
