Taittinger 'Domaine Carneros' Brut 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

This superb sparkler, reminiscent of the Taittinger style, is marked by exceptional refinement and finesse. Its brilliant straw-gold color is punctuated by strands of persistent, pinpoint bubbles. The subtle, ripe fruit richness of the Pinot Noir is balanced by the elegant depth and structure of the Chardonnay, converging in notes of toast and vanilla which linger in the extended finish.

Champagne Taittinger is one of the few remaining family owned and operated Champagne houses. The firm is distinguished for its extensive vineyard holdings of 752 acres, including prestigious Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims regions. Unlike most large houses, Champagne Taittinger relies primarily on estate grapes for its portfolio of Champagnes. Also unique are the higher proportion of Chardonnay in its wines that gives Taittinger its signature style, and the time devoted to aging the wines before release—most often greatly exceeding the legal requirement, in a practice that also has become a Taittinger hallmark. Distinguished for its extensive vineyard holdings of 752 acres, including prestigious Grand Cru vineyards. Highest-quality production: exceeding minimum aging for all cuvées, high percentage of estate grapes, sustainable practices. Uses a higher proportion of Chardonnay grapes in its blends than other large houses—Taittinger’s unique personality. Critical acclaim: consistently outstanding (90+) scores, worldwide recognition among connoisseurs Read less

Sweet nougat, lime and lemongrass aromas greet the nose over a light bed of smoky yeast notes. Soft, expansive, creamy and frankly a bit sweet even if the acidity is nice and bright. A fruity style, easy to drink with tart fruit flavors and surprisingly good length with mineral and leesy flavors on the finish. 88pts
