Tait the Ball Buster 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

91 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): (a blend of shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and merlot; 15.5% alcohol): Bright purple. Fresh blackberry and blackcurrant aromas are expansive and strikingly energetic. A deeply concentrated blend, offering sweet, sappy black and blue fruit flavors and refreshing spicy snap. The spiciness builds with air and carries through the persistent, floral-accented finish, which features silky tannins. (Sep/Oct 2011)

The growth in stature for Tait Wines has come about fairly quickly and directly reflects the dedication and vision of Bruno in his wine making skills. Bruno's wines have received very favorable overseas reviews ( 93 Parker points for the 2001 Basket Pressed Shiraz, 92 Parker points for the 2002 "The Ball Buster", 90 Parker points for the 2001 Basket Pressed Cabernet Sauvignon) and this has validated his efforts to make world class wines. Bruno's wines epitomize the Barossa style -big, rich and full of flavor. The obvious attention to detail along with strong relationships with his growers has allowed Bruno access to high quality fruit (the old vine fruit is from vines 50-80 years old) which he has then transformed into wines that are reflective of his personality - big, generous with loads of personality. Bruno also works in close partnership with his exporters, an essential ingredient to ensure the wines maintain their own in a competitive market and remain true to his own style. Now with the edition of new space through the recent expansion expect even more of the same from Tait Wines. Read less

A blend of 73% Shiraz, 15% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, Tait’s 2009 The Ball Buster provides a deep garnet color and aromas of blackberry preserves, prunes, mulberries and dried leaves with nuances of Indian spices and dusty earth. Full bodied and rich in the mouth, it has a high level of acid providing freshness to the generous fruit and a medium-firm level of grainy tannins, finish long with lingering notes of anise. Drinking now, it should remain good to 2015+.
