Taft Street Zinfandel Russian River Valley 2007

Member Review by WineborkDotCom:

From an old-vine vineyard tucked into a corner of Windsor just off Hembree and Jensen Lanes. I had previously tasted and enjoyed the 2005 Cobblestone, but the 2007 is a step up in flavor interest and intensity. Appealing spicy nose that smells a lot like creme de cassis, though it also displays the usual Zinfandel cherry/berry fruit and a definite note of ground black pepper. Soft and easy to drink, ready now, and in common with all the other Taft Street wines, very fairly priced.

Since 1979, we have carried on the garagistes tradition of innovation and excellance in a chateau alternative locale. Taft Street Winery continues in the garagistes traditions to this day, producing limited production, handcrafted wines from select Sonoma County vineyards. Our goals have not changed. We make great wine; make it available at a fair price; and, most of all, have fun in the process. Read less

A dark berried Zinfandel with chewy tannins and more than a handful of spice. From a single vineyard, quaintly called "Cobblestone," planted in the 1880s in the Russian River Valley. A big, yet balanced wine that is ideal for short rib or lamb shank braises.
