Taft Street Mendocino Ridge Pinot Noir 2006

Member Review by WineborkDotCom:

This $36 wine is at the absolute top of the price list at Taft Street, which makes uniformly excellent wines at extremely reasonable prices - including this wine, which could easily sell for $50+ at a lot of Russian River wineries. I love this style of Pinot Noir - ripe, almost jammy deep cherry and plum fruit in the perfumed nose, mouth-coating richness without a hint of heaviness, soft and lingering finish. Overall feeling of elegance and harmony. All the Taft Street Pinots tasted recently at the winery (the others are well under $30/bottle) are excellent, especially the 2007's, but this was the pick of the litter.

Since 1979, we have carried on the garagistes tradition of innovation and excellance in a chateau alternative locale. Taft Street Winery continues in the garagistes traditions to this day, producing limited production, handcrafted wines from select Sonoma County vineyards. Our goals have not changed. We make great wine; make it available at a fair price; and, most of all, have fun in the process. Read less

Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.
