Table Boulay Boulay Sancerre Monts Damnes 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Don't worry about the summer heat; we've got you covered with our first-ever vintage of Sauvignon Blanc! We sourced amazing fruit from the Monte Lago Vineyard of High Valley for a rare musque clone of this noble grape and the results are amazing. More delicate and floral than typical grassy New World Sav Blanc, our wine has a lovely floral nose with hints of tropical fruit, figs and just a touch of balancing herbal notes. On the palate, the wine is light and crisp but with a mouth-coating roundness created by fermenting a small percentage of the wine in new French Oak barrels. Flavors of honeysuckle, melon and citrus zest make for easy pairings with grilled poultry and seafood, Asian-fusian dishes, fresh goat cheese and salads. Don't forget that Sauvignon Blanc is one of the few wines to pair really well with asparagus, artichokes and eggs so it's great for brunch and with your farmer's market goodies as well. Only 300 cases of this lovely wine were created so order yours today! Shelftalkers for Trade Techsheet for Trade Months in barrel: 0 Oak: French

This wine has been brooding in my cellar for about 4 years and I am not a believer in antipodal wine longevity. Perhaps I should change that opinion for this sanguineous wine is holding strong at age 7 years with notes of cassis on the nose followed by semi-sweet blackberry and bitter almond on the palate. Very mouth filling medicinal and warm, the wine is very well crafted and to be recommended. 90 points. May be held another 5 years at least.

Mouth coating wine. Jammy and powerful and decadent. Delightful expression of carménere. - Tasted at Hostile Grape 10/8/09

Weingut: MontesLand: ChileRegion: Colchagua ValleyRebsorten: 92% Carmenère, 8% Petit VerdotAlkoholgehalt: 14,5 Vol. %Säuregehalt: 3,5 g/lRestsüße: 2,5 g/lInhalt: 0,75 lEmpfohlene Serviertemperatur: 16 - 18°CFassreife: in Barriques gereift (18 Monate)Auszeichnungen des Montes Purple Angel 2006:96 Parker Punkte91 Punkte- The Wine Spectator Mai 2009 Rotwein > Chile > Colchagua Valley

Are you looking for an inexpensive wine to keep on hand for cooking or for unexpected guests? Look no further. This versatile Sauvignon Blanc comes from the Curico Valley in Chile. The cool climate gives it crisp acidity and good structure. It is full of citrus flavors with hints of apricot and crispin apples. It almost drinks like a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, but without the grapefruit or the price tag. This is a wine that can stand on its own as a pre-dinner quaff or can be paired with shellfish or a light cream sauce.

Fresh and snappy, with aromas of pine, citrus and tropical fruits. Montes usually shows a good hand with Sauvignon, and they have in this case. The wine is full and melony but also racy and touched by a little green bean and asparagus. And that's as complex as it gets.

Flavors of bright citrus and passion fruit, adorned by fresh green beans and a touch of pepper, define this very refreshing sauvignon blanc. Last year's vintage hit Wine Enthusiast's Top 100 Best Buys list, and accolades for Montes show no sign of waning! Savor this Sauvignon with bacon-wrapped scallops.
