Tablas Creek Vineyard Esprit de Beaucastel Blanc 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2010 Esprit de Beaucastel Blanc shows a powerful high-toned nose with aromas of passion fruit, mango, ginger, asian pear and herbs. The mouth shows classic Roussanne flavors of honey and white tea, a touch of tropicality coming out with air. The long, clean finish shows an appealing saline minerality and the structure to age. The wine will benefit from short-term cellaring, and drink well starting in 2012 for a decade or more.

Definitely a standard bearer for New World Rhone-style whites. This wine shows tropical fruits, pickled ginger, green tea and five spice plus a great undertone of minerality I often miss in California whites.

Fantastic Paso white Rhone blend of Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Picpoul Blanc. Extremely well balanced with dried apricot, almond and ginger. Somewhat dry with nice acidity, subtle oak and a long silky finish.

The 2010 Esprit de Beaucastel Blanc is bright, focused and beautifully articulated. The higher percentage of Grenache Blanc in this vintage gives the wine lovely lift, energy and focus.
