Tablas Creek Mourvedre Paso Robles 2010
92 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): I find stunning beauty and purity in Tablas Creek's 2010 Mourvedre. Rich yet weightless, it offers up plum, camphor, tobacco, spices and mint, all to match an impossibly refined, gracious personality. The 2010 is rich yet not at all heavy. It is a wine of incomparable textural finesse. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022. (Aug 2012)
Tablas Creek, founded by the Perrin brothers of Chateau de Beaucastel and Robert Haas of Vineyard Brands, produces organically farmed, estate-grown Rhone varietals and blends in the limestone clay soils of west Paso Robles.
Interesting 100% mourvedre from Tablas. Not very fruit forward, more of the tar, leather and spice. The fruit that is there is dried black cherry and ripe black plum. The tannins are fairly grainy and pronounced and the finish is of medium length.
Pretty lavender nose with purple fruits with violets and other purple flowers. Flavors of dark red fruit, leather, earth and game with light pepper and hints of smoke. 91 pts. 9/1/12 at winery
