Tablas Creek Esprit de Tablas Rouge Paso Robles 2013

Winemaker's Notes:

92-94 points Jeb Dunnuck (Wine Advocate): Still not bottled, the 2013 Esprit de Tablas (40% Mourvedre, 28% Syrah, 22% Grenache and 10% Counoise) reveals a deep ruby color to go with lots of kirsch, black cherries, rose petal and underbrush. Full-bodied, nicely concentrated, with solid mid-palate depth and a great texture, it should drink nicely on release and keep for a decade or more. Drink: 2016-2026. (Aug 2015)

Extremely fine Rhone blend from Paso. Tablas Creek is one of our fav's and this hits all the right notes. Light in body but full of tart cherry, blackberry, green plum, minerality, a hint of smoke and nice acidity. The tannins are firm but fine grained. This is still a youngster and a bit tight, a couple years in the bottle should do it well.

Excellent white Rhone blend from Paso. This has that nice tropical fruit profile along with a hint of butterscotch, almond and honey. Still fresh and going strong for an '08. There is medium acidity and the finish is medium long.

Wonderful blended flavors of sweet, dark cherries, flowers and spices. Wonderful perfume, juiciness and a very harmonious finish. Great balance and depth. It's layered, complex and very flavorful. Really nice! 1/7/12

Awesome rhone blend from Paso. Black cherries and blackberries jump out first followed by red cherries. Great balance, long finish, just a fantastic wine.

California Mourvedre berries from French clones dried on straw to concentrate flavors, and oh how they did. Aromatic nose of smoke, lychee, bay leaves with hint of mint, barnyard, and dark chocolate. On the attack noticeable acid and heat and fruit give way to weightly and slick and sweet flavors of rich ripe cherry-berry, chocolate, and sweet vineyard earth. Well-integrated and balanced but beware the wine favors the sweet, clearly a dessert wine. Expensive but about worth the price and probably ok to drink now but might be better in a year.

Elegant mouthfeel. Vivid wild berries and interesting hints of nutmeg, cedae and coconut. Long finish. Some nuances in this wine I have not experienced together before. Very interesting and complex, ever changing on the palate.

The 2011 Esprit de Tablas comes across as quite fresh and perfumed in this vintage. At the same time the flavors aren t quite as vibrant as they usually are. Bright ruby. An assertively perfumed bouquet evokes black raspberry blood orange and peppery spices with suave floral pastille nuances. Spicy and precise on the palate offering lively dark fruit and floral pastille flavors underscored by hints of white pepper and allspice. Finishes long and gently tannic with powerful notes of spicecake and dark fruit preserves. Stephen Tanzers IWC.

Firm structured and showing the coolness of the vintage beautifully the 2010 Tablas Creek Esprit de Beaucastel (45% Mourvhdre 30% Grenache 21% Syrah and 4% Counoise) is a fresh focused and balanced red that has loads of crushed berry like fruit licorice sappy underbrush and floral nuances as well as superb underlying minerality all emerging from the glass. Quite tight and firm on the palate with excellent purity juicy acidity and a youthful energetic feel this will most likely require 3-5 years of bottle age once released and have 15+ years of total longevity. - Jeb Dunnuck Rhone Report The.
