Sylvain Cathiard had yields of 36 to 38 hl/ha in his 1ers and only 30 hl/ha for the Romanée St. Vivant, remarkably low levels for the 2000 vintage. He believes 2000 is a relatively tender vintage and between the soft tannins and low acidity, the wines should come around early. All the wines had been racked within two weeks of my visit, which probably had the effect of making them seem somewhat firmer than they will be when released.
