Sweet Riesling

External Review by Palm Bay International:

Sweet Riesling 2009 - 85 Points & Best Buy, Wine Enthusiast / ... The 2009 Sweet Riesling features ripe pear and melon balanced by crisp pineapple notes. It’s rather soft and sweet, but since that’s what it’s supposed to be, it’s hard to quibble, especially at the price.

Blue Fish is produced by Die Weinmacher Niederkirchen, a highly-respected cooperative with a 110+ year history of successful viticulture in the Pfalz. Their close network of over 400 grape growers strive for a sustainable, healthy wine-growing environment. Die Weinmacher controls all stages of production and works with only sustainable wine growers. In addition, only premium grapes go into Blue Fish, ensuring that the quality remains consistent from year to year, while also bringing the best value possible to consumers. Blue Fish wines are presented in an eye-catching azure blue bottle decorated with colorful labels featuring the distinctive Blue Fish logo. This wine offers a medium sweet expression Production Area Pfalz, Germany The Pfalz is Germany’s sunniest wine region. It runs along the Haardt Mountains, an extension of the Vosges mountain range, which originates in Alsace (France). The long, sunny, dry growing season allows for optimal phenolic ripening, producing full-bodied, attractive Rieslings. Highly-varied soils composed of sandstone, limestone, clay, granite, slate, and marl support the development of complex flavors. Rieslings from the Pfalz are fruit-driven, complex, and fuller-bodied with balanced acidity resulting in extremely elegant, flavorful wines. Grape Varieties 100% Riesling. Vinification After late harvest, the grapes undergoes a temperature-controlled fermentation, which creates and conserves the typical outstanding aromatics of this sweet Riesling. Color Pale gold. Bouquet Seductive perfume of fresh apricot, peaches, and ripe pineapple. Taste Fruity sweetness with a full-bodied structure and refreshing acidity. Alcohol 11% Serving Suggestions Serve lightly chilled. Blue Fish Sweet Riesling complements the flavor of shellfish, mussels,Asian-inspired cuisine, and mild cheeses. The wine is also perfect for sipping on its own while enjoying a warm summer night.

Sweet Riesling 2007 - Wine Enthusiast/ Broad and mouthfilling, with citrusy overtones to the ripe nectarine fruit and talcum-powder-like minerality. It's not sweet enough to really be a dessert wine, but might pair well with Hunan and Szechuan dishes.

Sweet Riesling - 89 points & Best Buy, Wine Enthusiast/ Cute packaging belies the surprising depth to this Riesling. It’s remarkably balanced, with an array of mineral, floral and fruit dimensions. Juicy, with preserved peach flavors and zippy lemon acidity, it’s a thirst-quenching, solid pick from the Pfalz.

Sweet Riesling 2007 - South Florida Sun-Sentinel/ The economy is in the pits. People are cutting back on purchases and postponing travel, hoping against hope that the dollar will get stronger, gas prices will fall, and housing prices will rise. And to top it all off: Summer is here and it's hot. Want some relief, a nice diversion that won't make a dent in your budget? Look for affordable, imported white wines that can quench your thirst and are about as close to Europe as you're going to get in the near future. Produced from grapes grown in the Pfalz region of Germany, Blue Fish is an estate-bottled white that delivers fruity sweetness, but isn't cloying on the palate. Try it with shellfish or Asian-inspired dishes. It's also a great sipping wine to enjoy on a sultry summer night. Sold, of course, in a blue bottle, it retails for $11.
