Swanson Merlot Oakville 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2007 Swanson Oakville Merlot is a very tightly-focused ode to the wines of the Right Bank of Bordeaux. The nose offers mocha and black cherry. Firm, sweet, silky tannins give away the fact that this wine is from Oakville. Raspberry, black cherry and red licorice contribute to the complex flavors. Should age very through 2015, at the least.

We glorify day-to-day living by introducing luxury products that were once considered stuffy and intimidating in a delightful and accessible manner. We encourage you to plop ice cubes in your glass of Rosato during the summertime; savor the naughty combination of chocolate bonbons with estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon; or serve American caviar and potato chips with Pinot Grigio -- just because you want to. Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

WE 94pts. - According to the Wine Enthusiast: One of the best Merlots of the vintage, at a good price for the quality. Shows a structural quality and ripeness that are pure Oakville, with ultrarefined tannins, good acidity and plush, complex flavors of black cherries, red currants and licorice that go on and on into a long, spicy finish. New oak comprises 40% of the barrels, and adds beautiful notes of toast and warmth. Editors Choice.

This red is well-focused but still tightly wound, with floral red currant and dried sage aromas and firm, tannic flavors of plum, cedar and tomato leaf. Best from 2012 through 2018. 9,265 cases made. -TF The dark plum-colored 2007 Merlot displays notes of chocolate, mocha, roasted herbs, and some toasty oak in a medium-bodied, fruitier style. It should drink well for 7-8 years.
