Only the third Grange to be produced from 100% Shiraz, the 1999 Grange is superb... A wine of great intensity, sweet tannin, voluptuous texture, and a spectacularly long finish, it will be at its finest between 2007-2025.'
Made from fruit coming predominantly from the Barossa Valley this year (97%) and containing 2% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2006 Grange has been added to my list of favorite recent vintages. Deep garnet-purple colored, it's still a little youthfully mute,... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. A Syrah wine from South Australia in Australia. 2006 Penfolds Grange 750ml
Intensives, dunkles Rot, mit violetten Reflexen. Fruchtig-blumiger Auftakt, erinnert an Aprikose, Mandeln, Waldbeeren und Gewürze. Reiche Struktur, feine Tannine, langer Nachklang.

Pre-Arrival Item - Will Ship Mid-May - Winemaker Notes - From humble beginnings in the 1950s, Grange has maintained its place as Australia's most prestigious red wine over five decades. Today, it is a wine of international renown, with each vintage eagerly awaited by collectors both in Australia and overseas. Penfolds Grange is a wine of extraordinary dimension and power. Richly textured, intensely concentrated and packed with fruit sweetness, these wines, regardless of vintage, require medium to long-term cellaring. They develop into immensely complex, beguiling wines that seduce the senses. An Australian icon, Grange represents a tradition in winemaking that is totally uncompromising. Grange has bypassed the fads and trends of modern winemaking in the sense that it has maintained an integrity of style and remained true to its origins in the mind of Max Schubert. Penfolds Grange is the quality standard against which all other Australian red wines are judged...
Dark and intense colour with purple hue. Limpidity is medium. Intense nose, dominantly fruit(blackberry), with a touch of reduction, showing some animal character. After aeration the nose evolves towards some spicy notes (cinnamon, fresh walnut), a touch of fresh mint developing, to camphor, and a spicy oak scents finishing with ripe tomatoes and olives. The aeration keeps bringing new fragrances. Attack is intense, with a strong texture, soft and then the structure is revealing power and tannin. The aromas are in line with the spicy tones found on the nose, and the savoury character is well balanced by natural acidity and a touch of bitterness. The length is medium and the fine grain tannin are melting with the aromatics of fresh spice and fruit. This wine is still in its primary youth, and the aeration shows the potential we can expect with a little bit more bottle ageing. Strong texture coming from a low yield vintage, very concentrated but with freshness and savoury character. This wine will be at ease with meat dishes, decanting at that stage, is recommended.
