Big black currant and black plum fruit greet the nose over black olive, bay leaf, roast beef, tobacco and mint nuances. This is dry, linear and compact on entry with a lovely brambly black currant perfume. There's plenty of tannins here but they're not too dry and they are well covered by the earthy, slightly leather black fruits on the palate. Bordering on austere, this delivers a really compelling blend of savory olive and tobacco flavors along with the ripe and almost, but not quite, sweet black fruit. The finish is dominated by that same black fruit with oak spice lurking under the fruit. Not as long as one might hope but still lovely with a wild cherry streak running through it that pops on the finale. 92pts
This was my first 2008 vintage. I am not familiar with this variety, and this particular wine I felt really needs some getting used to. Not sure if it was intentional, but the bouget was very fragrant with a slight hint of mildew. The color wasfantastic purply inky, unlike the more reddish of the red wine cadre. The taste was strongly boysenberry (as it says on the label) but reminds me of a fenced fallow pasture. Don't know why. Didn't pair well with a roasted chicken and root vegetable dish at all. In fact, I ended up throwing my glass out and opening something else. That doesn't happen often in my house. I am a pretty solid put er up er with offness. Maybe I'll try this variety again by another winery to get a feel for this variety, but its not on my list of favs so far.

full bodied with a great finish. wonderful with a hearty meal. yummy!
What a nice, smooth wine. It's a reasonable price and yummy!
Had this at a wine tasting and it was presented to me compared to a Beaujolais Nouveau from California. I was skeptical to begin with. Very strong tastes of cherry and jam in an overall young wine without the fun of being a Nouveau. Almost too sweet. I would definitely spend the money on an actual Beaujolais if that is the flavor your are after.
My top 5 at this price.
Tried this with great expectations after reading the reviews. Was not disappointed. Very well balanced cab. Tannins strong enough to hold the dark fruit, smoke, and spice together, yet not overpowering the palate. At 16 bucks, still a bargain. Had the '07, thought it was cellar worthy. This might be real dynamite with a few more years in the bottle.

Raisin, plum and cherry notes have good depth and are framed by a ripe tannic structure. Good value. Drink now through 2004.
A bouyant red-purple color with bright hues. Generous aromas of black cherry, black currant and plum fruit, complemented by vanilla, tar and toasty notes from the twelve to fourteen months in barrel. On the palate, the fruit flavors echo the aroma, complexed with blackberry and a plump, softly texture mouthfeel and finish. - Jeff Meier, winemaker
Dark ruby red in color, with aromas of blueberry, black cherry and cassis and a hint of violets. The bouquet is an elegant blend of vanilla, chocolate, tobacco leaf and tar. It shows ripe and velvety soft tannins and a plump structure supported by good acidity, It would complement grilled or roasted red meats and red-sauced pasta dishes and will develop additional complexity with bottle aging.
Dark ruby red in color, with aromas of cherry, black currant, blueberry and violets. The bouquet is an elegant blend of vanilla, chocolate, truffle, cedar and thyme. It shows ripe, velvety, soft tannins with a plump structure supported by good acidity.
A little harsh and green, with mint,. black currant and cedar flavors that are dry and tannic. Good everyday Cab that will benefit from decanting.
Aromas of black cherry, currants, blueberry, violets and jammy black fruits that extend into a complex bouquet of cedar, mocha, cigar box and black olives. The fruit shows ripe and ample tannins with a plump, concentrated structure supported with benevolent acidity.
A classic California Cab. This wine has black cherry and olive hints on the nose and a silky, mildly tannic mouthfeel.
Ariél Chardonnay has a distinctive combination of buttery apple and butterscotch characteristics, combined with a toasty French oak bouquet, and should continue to develop complexity as it ages. It can be enjoyed immediately, or held three to five years before enjoying. Enjoy Ariél Chardonnay with richer seafood, veal, duck and cream pasta dishes.
Generous aromas of black cherry, currant and plum fruit, complemented by vanilla, and toasty oak notes. A complex wine with a plump, soft textured mouthfeel and long finish.
