Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

The nose has smoke, seaweed/peat bog and currant with a palate of black cherry, currant and some smokiness. There is an interesting herbal undertone. It seems a bit young and I am assuming it will get better with time. Try to decant this for at least an hour before enjoying

Ripe and polished, with good cherry and currant fruit backed by sweet spice and toast notes. There's a nice hint of briar on the finish. Drink now.

The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon spent 9 months in one-year-old French and American oak and was bottled without fining or filtration. Purple-colored, it reveals an expressive perfume of cedar, spice box, black currant and black raspberry. This is followed by a medium to full-bodied wine with lots of savory black fruit, enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years, excellent balance, and a long, fruit-filled finish. Drink it over the next 3-4 years.

Dark in color, with aromas of coconut, leather, chocolate malt balls and generic black fruit. The wine is tannic and a little bit grating but generally in balance, with bold cassis, cherry and blackberry flavors. Not complex and seemingly made more for the everyday wine drinker than the collector.

Good deep red. Black cherry, blackberry, licorice, pepper and graphite on the nose. Good lift and intensity to the black fruit flavors; I find this more precise and lively than the 2007 bottling. Finishes with firm but ripe tannins that showed a slight dryness with air.

WA 90pts. - According to the Wine Advocate: Susana Balbo is very high on Mendoza s 2009 vintage, calling it a 'fantastic year'. The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon spent 5 months in seasoned French and American oak. It is purple-colored with a classy nose of cigar box, cassis, black currant, and violets. Medium-to full bodied, it has excellent depth, savory flavors, ripe tannin for balance, and a lengthy, fruit-filled finish. It will evolve for 1-2 years but can be enjoyed now and over the next 4-5 years.

Bright red-ruby. Aromas and flavors of ripe currant, leather, smoke, bakerrsquo;s chocolate and dried herbs. Smooth, lush and ripe; a satisfying, seamless cabernet with fine-grained dusty tannins and nice length. This punches above its weight class.
