Minerally black fruit nose, with black pepper. Dry even body with rich fruit tones in the finish.

Jim Summers purchased a 28-acre vineyard in Knights Valley in 1987. At that time it was mostly Merlot grapes with some Muscat Canelli. The first production of Summers Ranch Merlot was the 1992 vintage, and we increased the yield to reach a maximum of 2000 cases. In 1996 we expanded our vineyard holdings to include 25 acres at the corner of Highway 128 and Tubbs Lane. This Napa Valley property carries the name Summers Estate Wines, with the vineyard designation of Villa Andriana Vineyard, named after our daughter. The property has been completely transformed to recognize its full potential. With a winery/tasting room, entertainment center, bocce ball court, picnic area and 22+ acres of vines (Zinfandel, Charbono, and Cabernet Sauvignon) we think it a perfect balance of pleasure and productivity. Creating red-wine from grapes grown on small acreages in both Napa Valley and Knights Valley is the passion of Beth and Jim Summers. The signature, "unique" wine offered by Summers is Charbono. The name is thought to be an early Italian immigrant version of Charbonneau, a French varietal. Some strongly believe that this variety is a close relative to the Dolcetto variety, widely grown in northern Italy. The vine bears very large berries that are used to make a very dark red wine that, when subjected to extended skin contact during fermentation, is full of fruit flavor and low in tannins. Read less

I'm not a cab guy.. and this.. was... juicy. awe-some. Plus the added "wine aficionado" appeal at a "beer guy" price... plus you can't find it at Kroger's - score!

Summer's Knights Valley Cabernet has wonderful structure and intensity. Lots of dark fruit/cocoa powder aromatics with hints of allspice and clove make this a good choice for the dinner table.

A terrific bargain is the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Adriannarsquo;s Cuvee. Finding a good 100% Napa Cabernet Sauvignon for under $50 a bottle is no easy task. Finding an excellent one is almost impossible. But that is exactly what this elegant, tasty, black currant, cedar, licorice, and spice box-scented 2005 delivers. The classic Cabernet aromas are followed by a medium to full-bodied wine with loads of fruit, soft tannin, and a long finish. It should drink well for 5ndash;8 years. Readers should not hesitate to check out this value-priced offering.

The serious 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Andrianarsquo;s Cuvee is a 6,500-case, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that spent 20 months in French oak. It possesses a dark ruby/purple color as well as good structure and density, plenty of loamy soil, black currant, herb, and spice characteristics, and 5ndash;6 years of drinkability.

Very ripe, showing upfront grilled blackberry and black currant flavors with hints of violets and licorice, and a firm application of smoky oak. Shows a pleasingly dry, classic structure. Best now, and a good buy for this price in upscale Napa Cab.

The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Andrianarsquo;s Cuvee is composed of estate fruit blended with purchased grapes. It reveals an open-knit bouquet of sweet black cherries, plums, earth and spice. Made in a more plush style than the Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, it is a medium-bodied, generously endowed, seductive red to enjoy now and over the next decade.
