It was established by tech engineer Rajeev Samant, who saw the potential for growing grapes and producing quality wines in this otherwise mostly unchartered territory. With the help of Sonoma, California winemaker Kerry Damskey, Samant started making wines at his 30-acre family estate in 1997. The wines began to garner acclaim, and the label soon became known as one of India’s top premium wine brands. Other vineyard sites and winery locations were established in Nashik and Dindori though the next decade. The winery produces single varietal whites and reds as well as blends, rosé, sparkling wines in the méthode champenoise and a late harvest Chenin Blanc dessert wine. The winery is known for employing local farmers and promoting wine-making as a viable agri-business for India.  Read less
