User Reviews for Storybook Mountain Vineyards Zinfandel Napa Valley Eastern Exposures
Add your reviewAs with all big, complex, multi-layered wines, this beautiful Zin improves over three to four hours after uncorking, and is a new wine every thirty minutes. Smoke, coffee and leather fill the nose with a soft but pleasantly balanced opening, with notes of cherry, blueberry and grapefruit appearing fleetingly and adding a fruity zing to this fragrant wine. On the palate, a zesty explosion of a broad array of tastes, including cherry, strawberry, grapefruit, raisin, plum, caramel, pepper and smoky oak, is supported by pleasant acidity and soft, silky tannins that lead to a smooth, full, clean and balanced finish.
Winemaker's Notes:
Wine & Sprirts Review Rated 96 One taste of this wine and you might forget cabernet. In fact, this is what Napa Valley growers should consider the ideal. It's classic, beautiful, wildly fruited zin, farmed to catch the cooler, morning sun and to hold onto its zest and elegance. Made to be transparent in color and incisive in flavor. Pure California in its memory of sage brush and desert heat. Delicious now, and likely to be more delicious 20 years from now, as Jerry Seps's wines age with grace. Wine Tasting Notes The selection criteria emphasize aroma, middle-palate and finish - berries with hints of flowers, minerals and spice in the aroma; multi-layered and rich flavor on the broad and supple middle palate; and an intense, clean and lingering impression on the finish. A touch of Viognier is added to enhance the intriguingly exotic and sensual quality of this very special wine.
