User Reviews for Stonier Pinot Noir Mornington Peninsula

Winemaker's Notes:

Stonier is located on the Mornington Peninsula across Port Philip Bay from Melbourne and is home to one of the most stunning views in Australian wine: whale watching with a glass of Pinot in your hand whilst sitting on the veranda is the perfect way to unwind after a hard day in the vineyards. It's easy to see why winemaker Geraldine McFaul has never felt the need to leave since her arrival in 1995. Taking her inspiration from Burgundy, Geraldine handcrafts sublime Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in a cool climate that is perfect for these varietals with the Reserve level wines having a justifiable claim to be among Australia's best examples. This Pinot Noir is bright ruby red. The nose offers intense cherry and savoury plum aromas with some subtle French oak adding complexity. The palate shows vibrant cherry and plum fruit flavour, with some spicy, earthy complexity. The structure is weighty with fine, but quite grippy tannins providing balance to the intense fruit.
