What to Expect

Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.

Winemakers Notes

Wine Advocate # 168 Dec 2006 Robert Parker 93 Serious Chardonnays are being produced by new winemaker, Graham Weerts, at Jess Jacksons Alexander Valley estate, Stonestreet. A new offering is the 300-case cuvee of 2005 Chardonnay Broken Road, which was aged in 42% new French oak, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and was put through full malolactic. It possesses abundant mineral and honeyed citrus characteristics along with a subtle notion of wood, an excellent texture, and a long, tannic, structured finish. Produced from a vineyard planted at an 1,800 foot elevation, this beauty is, sadly, limited in availability
