Oaky nose, good cab structure. Red fruits in the mouth - cherry, blackberry, some chocolate. Slightly bitter finish, with strong tannins - 15 seconds.

Excellent cab, Complex, tannic, with floral and spice aromatics. Fleshy, vivid red fruits and black mineral streaks in the finish. Medium notes throughout in good balance, but not as deep and heavy as I prefer it. Still, a wonderfully composed wine.

Revealing a tannic firmness and copious black currant fruit, the 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon is a spicy, lavishly wooded effort. Give it 1-2 years of cellaring and enjoy it over the following 15-18 years. It may merit an even higher rating. This is a big, forceful wine that was firm and closed when tasted in late October.

Stonestreet is recognized as one of California's premier wineries. Over the last decade, Stonestreet has earned over eighty Gold Medals and eleven Best-of-Show awards in major judgings across the U.S., and recognition as a Winery of the Year by Wine and Spirits Magazine in 1996 and 1998.
