Stoneboat Piano Brut NV

Member Review by zufrieden:

This type of wine is difficult to score being Prosecco in style (cuvée close method) but vinified with Pinot Blanc rather than Glera grapes. Good effervescence and bubbles continue for up to 10 minutes with a powerful nose of ripe apricots. The mousse is soft on the palate with more apricot and a creme soda short finish. Interesting, juicy fruit gum fun with no almond bitterness (like most Prosecco). 84 points.

A great entry for this BC winery! Really interesting and aromatic on the nose - probably more so than I've ever seen in a sparkling wine at this price point. Has notes of sweet grass and white flowers with a fine bead. It is simple and fresh on the palate, with notes of sweet pears, honey, and vanilla. It has a unique element of freshness that's in line with the way this one smells. FYI: Stoneboat was the only winery in the Okanagan of British Columbia that produces a wine in the Charmat method (like prosecco). It is 86% Pinot Blanc, with the remainder made up of Muller-Thurgau (a common grape in Germany).
