Stolpman Syrah Santa Ynez Valley Estate Grown 2006
The Stolpman Vineyard lies along the beautiful Ballard Canyon Road, in what I would call a moderate zonenot quite cool, not quite warm. The soils are laden with limestone, which mimic the great soils of the Northern Rhone region of France. This produces a very classy Syrah that hides its bigness quite well. The vineyard owners have stopped selling fruit as of the 2008 vintage so this is the 2nd to last Stolpman Vineyard Syrah that we will craft. It is one not to be missed. It should continue to age for 3-4 more years."Non-member discount!Non-members can still enjoy a 10% discount on case purchases. A very unique syrah and interesting. It has descriptors that are spot-on with it being tarry and camphor laced. It sounds odd, but these are not bad things. It takes on a very distinct style of syrah and I enjoyed it. It's a very savory, fleshy wine. It's complex and evolves on the palate. - Tasted at Marché Bacchus 2/13/10
Smooth, little spice at the end, great w Thanksgiving stuffing, gravy and cranberries.
5 Stars - Requires decanting
good, not great. i would have preferred a bit of sweeter taste.
