This is fairly oaky at first but there is wonderfully piercing fruit that bursts through with spiky herb, wild raspberry and strawberry tones. This has a lovely richness on entrance betraying its new world origins but the bed of austere tannins that follows with the waves of herb inflected strawberry fruit speak clearly of Sangiovese. There is good acid here that offers a nice counterpoint to the sweetness of the fruit and drives the slightly creamy and vanilla tinged back end through an austerely refreshing finish that could be a bit longer. A nice Sangiovese that really explodes aromatically but is a touch raw, which makes it ideal for the foods that Sangiovese tends to be paired with, red sauces and Italo-American foods. Super zesty! 88pts

Still kicking and kept well over 4 days under vacuum seal. Long lasting finish.

My wife says "This is like a handsome man who is trying to seduce you." It has a warm fruity taste that made me regret not buying more when I had the chance.

Fruit forward and fresh on the nose with an elegant medium bodied palate and Italian tannin structure. Dry farmed since 2001, Stolpman Sangiovese offers New World intensity with Old World refinement. Aged 10 months in neutral oak.
