Rating: 96/100 - As reviewed by Vinfolio in Issue 112 Consistently, this is one of my favorite producers from the region. Winemaker Sashi Moorman rarely fails to impress. This may well be the best I have tasted from this excellent producer. 98% Roussanne with 2% Sauvignon Blanc; the combination is extraordinary. A nose of lemon, <i>creme</i>, gunpowder mineral and salt. The plate is beautifully rich and mouth coating; the finish has a warm, waxy feel and ends with lemon shortbread.

I greatly enjoyed this wine on its own, but one evening when I was entertaining guests I served fresh pineapple as a pre-dinner appetizer. When we returned to drink the L'Avion, it was simply astounding. This wonderful wine after eating fresh pineapple made the evening memorable. I will always use this pairing.
