Stolpman High Density Hilltops Vineyard Syrah 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

We make this wine in limited quantities for our loyal fans. It is the best of the Hilltops cuvee. Selected barrel by barrel by the winemaking team to create a wine of unfathomable concentration, but with balance. This cuvee comes from our newest vineyards, which were planted using all the lessons we have learned over the years: lots of vines per acre, low yields per plant, short pruning to limit growth, limited irrigation to force the roots deep into the subsoil. A little more new oak here, than in our other cuvees, so some patience is required. Wait a couple of years and this wine will surely delight you and your friends and family at your next special gathering.

The first vines were planted at Stolpman in 1992 by Coastal Vineyard Care Associates, who continue to farm and develop the 220-acre estate. We are constantly improving our vineyards according to the latest information available about viticultural techniques, technology, vine material and our specific terroir. Read less
