Stickybeak Syrah Napa County 2009

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Blueberry, blackberry and pepper greet the nose with a touch of green bell underlay. This is big and round in the mouth with nice, rich blackberry and blueberry fruit that shows decent inner mouth perfume. The tannins are slightly drying and the acids a touch aggressive, lending this a rather tart profile. Short and attenuated on the finish, which revels this wine’s sticky side. A bit clumsy if tasty. 84pts

Tasting Notes:

On the nose, the Syrah offers aromatics of sweet blackberries, tarragon and plum. The balanced palate is elegant and generous, with concentrated dark fruits and silky tannins alongside flavors of boysenberry, dark chocolate and dusty hot rocks. Creamy French oak notes linger on the persistent finish.
