Stickybeak Semillon Sauvignon Blanc Sonoma County 2010
Our quest for fine-tuned Semillon nearly did us in until we stumbled upon a mature vineyard in Knights Valley. The fruit had the energy and snap we were looking for, and paired wonderfully with a small parcel of Sauvignon Blanc we sourced from the banks of the Russian River. We pick the fruit in the early dawn before gently crushing and fermenting the juice in stainless steel tanks. A portion of fruit is given extended time on its yeast lees which provides a generous texture. Shows an initial exuberant nose of white peach, freshly cut grass and citrus, with spicy, smoky flint notes beneath. The palate opens with an engaging freshness yet also shows a generous mouthfeel beneath. Long, deep, and quite succulent, the characters of pie baked stone fruit and meyer lemon continue through the clean finish. This wine is 72% Semillon, 28% Sauvignon Blanc.

A richer palate in 2010, due to a slightly later harvest and the savory depth added by the barrel ferment. The exuberant nose has upfront white peach, freshly cut grass and citrus aromas with spicy, smoky flint notes beneath them. The engaging palate has both freshness and a genrous mouthfeel. Long, deep and quite succulent, the characters of pie baked stone fruit and meyer lemon persist through the clean finish.
