Stewart Cellars Napa Cab 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

SPECIAL PRICE THIS WEEK ONLY! THEWINEINSIDERS "Outstanding 94" Rating: "This Cabernet is intensely delicious and ageworthy. Starting with aromas of cassis, smoky oak and mocha. Dense, creamy-sweet and juicy, with excellent concentration to its luscious flavors of dark berries and semi-sweet chocolate. This grand creation features bold fruit flavors deftly melded together with plush tannins that bode well for long term cellaring. Enjoy tonight, after decanting 1/2 hour, or anytime over the next 5 - 7 years, peaking around 2012. 94 Points" TheWineInsiders.com

Stewart Cellars Cabernet is a breathtakingly delicious wine crafted by Paul Hobbs, the World famous winemaker known for his boutique production Napa Cabernet that consistently garner lofty ratings from Robert Parker and the Wine Spectator! The unfortunate result of Hobbs meteoric rise to fame in the wine world is that prices of his most renowned cabernets have also skyrocketed while availability has virtually disappeared. Ever since Robert Parker rated Hobbs Beckstoffer Cabernet a perfect 100 points a few years ago that bottling has sold for $200 - $300 per bottle. Best news today is since the remarkable Stewart Cabernet by Paul Hobbs is still undiscovered (so far) by wine collectors we can offer it to you for only $59. ROBERT PARKER OUTSTANDING 93 Rating: The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon (a blend of equal parts Stagecoach and Beckstoffer fruit) is more defined, structured, and pure. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by sweet blackberry and blueberry fruit intermixed with cassis, graphite, and spicy wood notes. It will require several years of cellaring, and should keep for 15 years. 93 points.

Serves up a tasty mix of ripe, supple plum and black cherry fruit that's elegant, well-centered, smooth and focused. Tapers off a bit on the finish, yet there's lots to admire. Ends with drying tannins. Drink now through 2013. 1,540 cases

The dark ruby purple-tinged 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals sweet creme de cassis notes interwoven with notions of smoke, toast, licorice, and loamy soil. In the mouth, the wine is full-bodied, with pure fruit, a multilayered mouthfeel, and an elegant, velvety finish. It should drink well for 10-15 years. This high-class operation boasts Paul Hobbs as its consulting winemaker. The Cabernet Sauvignon comes primarily from the Stagecoach Vineyard in the eastern hills of Oakville, just below the famed Pritchard Hill.
