Sterling Vinters Sauvignon Blanc 2009

Member Review by NoLaDan:

Refreshing with tropical tutti fruit, a little soapy, and it is fairly dry. Acidic enough to cut through food and cleanse the palate.

A Crisp and bright, medium bodied Sauvignon Blanc with a nice dry finish. On the nose I got vanilla, some melon, flowers and lemon. It paired rather nicely with my wife's turkey chili.

Copious melon aromas are followed by a medium-bodied, fruit-driven, floral-styled Sauvignon. As the wine sat in the glass, a hint of fig also appeared. Drink this tasty, elegant, cleanly made 2001 over the next 12ndash;16 months.

Drier than most Sauvignon Blancs and not particularly fruity, but flavorful nevertheless, this wine boasts an impressive array of herb, onion and mineral notes with an underlying balance and ripeness. Match it with onion tarts or other savory light entreacute;es for a taste delight.

This established Napa Valley producerrsquo;s sauvignon blanc can be counted on to provide warm weather refreshment. Crisp and bracing, with plenty of citrus notes in a dry and light-bodied package. A great match with scallops mdash; barbecued or otherwise.

This very pale wine packs plenty of flavor. Itrsquo;s filled with peach, fig, citrus, spearmint and smoky-vanilla flavors that are slightly off-dry, but the acidity is crisp and clean. Very pleasant, and versatile.

A terrific effort from a winery that now seems to be taking its stylistic cues from Bordeaux rather than the mainstream Napa philosophy. This aspect is demonstrated not only in the red Bordeaux varietals that theyrsquo;re famous for, but also in the current Sauvignon Blanc. The 2004 could be a dead ringer for a white Bordeaux with perhaps slightly more weight. Terrific purity and focus in this wine, showing zesty grapefuit, spicy pear, figs and tart lime peel notes. Tones of freshly cut grass and minerals blend together into a crisp and lively finish.

Vibrant acidity is followed by tangy grapefruit and lemon notes. The moderate body rounds it out, while the medium finish is fresh and herb-tinged. Drink now.

The attractive 1997 Sauvignon Blanc exhibits an aromatic personality (figs, melons, and citrus), medium body, and a crisp, mineral-like character. This dry, refreshing, light to medium-bodied Sauvignon should be drunk over the next year.
