The Sterling Napa Merlot celebrates this varietal with a vibrant, juicy core of red fruit; generous, youthful texture and a balanced spice profile. Following the deep purple hue, aromas of fresh cranberry and black cherry take the stage, complemented by cedar, spicy-floral and dried-herb notes. A great burst of flavor opens the palate, as deep red fruits interweave with cola across a smooth, weighted middle. Oak is the grounding force in the wine, holding it together and adding a toasty richness to the bright fruit profile. The finale is three parts, beginning with toasty clove and vanilla, followed by a burst of cherry compote and finishing with the lingering memory of wood spices.

Dark red. Cherry, raspberry, licorice, mint and cedary, vanillin oak on the nose; became oakier in the glass. Supple and easygoing, with moderately intense red berry, spice cake and mint flavors. Nicely balanced Merlot, finishing with easy tannins and decent length.

A dense, dark plum in color, the wine offers aromas of black cherry, raspberry, toasty oak, nutmeg, and cloves. Luscious flavors of blackberries, cherries, cocoa, cedar, and vanilla lead to a full, well-textured finish.

Plum, currant and chocolate flavors have good depth, with lingering herbal and toasty oak notes underscored by firm structure. Drink now through 2007.

Our 2008 Napa Valley Merlot celebrates this varietal with a vibrant, juicy core of red fruit; generous, youthful texture and a balanced spice profile. The finale is three parts, beginning with toasty clove and vanilla, followed by a burst of cherry compote and finishing with the lingering memory of wood spices. The fine tannins, enjoyable fruit and balanced oak of this wine make it extremely food friendly; pair it with brined pork chops, pastas or grilled meats. - Winery ** SOLD OUT **
