Sterling Vineyards Platinum Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Member Review by Stallion:

Although the name has changed since the 2008 release (SVR Reserve), the quality remains the same. Balanced, smooth, and good tannin structure abound with this Cabernet blend. Hints of berry and jam prevail on the nose. The wine opens wonderfully with hints of mocha and coffee. The finish is long and supple. This is a keeper for any wine drinker. Cheers!

Very smooth but flavorful. Less affordable than Apothic but an excellent special occasion treat. All around best blend I've tried yet

This is the first release of Sterling Vineyards Platinum, considered their finest offering. A majority of the fruit comes from three distinct AVAs within Napa including about 1/3 from their Diamond Mountain Ranch. Rutherford and Yountville are the other two and every bit of it is prime! The blend is 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot. A portion of the wine is barrel fermented, with the barrels hand turned regularly. Aging is in 60% new French and American oak. Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this debut Cab 92 points saying "This is soft, ripe and delicious, in the cult style, with heady blackberry jam, chocolate and sweet, caramelized oak flavors. It’s thoroughly dry and really easy to like, with a certain dramatic impact. Drink soon." Grab it while it's ON SALE!
