Very nice alone. With halibut, the texture and flavor of ripe apricots and the finish of ripe pineapple. Hard not to gulp! But, with a heavier dish of prawns and bell pepper pasta, not really big enough. A light fish dinner wine, but must use with right food! Duh! My best Pinot Gris so far.

Refreshing and fruity, our 2007 Pinot Grigio is popular for its pure expression of peach, melon and kiwi character. Enticing honeysuckle, mineral and spice notes accent the delicate fruit aromas and crisp flavors. This northern Italian grape variety is prized for creating wines with silkiness on the palate. Here in California?s cooler vineyard regions, Pinot Grigio develops ripe flavors and a silky texture that rival wines of its homeland. We added twenty-percent Gewurztraminer for even more spiciness. Serve chilled, this wine makes a delightful complement to appetizers, salads, grilled fish and chicken or any lighter fare that tantalizes your tastebuds. Pinot Grigio grapes can be purple-gray to a rich copper but, like most wine grapes, the juice is clear. We gently pressed the grapes and cold-fermented the juice in stainless steel tanks to capture the fresh varietal character. In the Italian tradition, we didn?t oak-age the wine, thus keeping the fruit-focused expression.

Simple sturdy dusky. Spicy notes lift the low-level apricot flavors. A simple wine tasting vaguely of honey and almond.

Winemaker's Notes:

Tinged with the slightest copper hue, our Pinot Gris adeptly balances ripe white tree-fruits with vibrant acidity and sprightliness. The wine opens with expressive aromas of white peach and Bartlett pear, which are joined by wafts of orange blossom, lemon peel and river rock and a touch of allspice. The entry is supple and smooth, leading with ripe, succulent stone fruit and then picking up a tantalizing brightness of grapefruit, citrus and chalky mineral notes on the finish. This wine is a perfect companion for summer picnics or seafood cookouts.
