Our iconic winery is perched high above the town of Calistoga on a mid-valley hill. Its stark architectural beauty, state-of-the-art winemaking facility, and panoramic views of Napa Valley from the rooftop deck have attracted visitors from all 50 states for over 30 years.
Medium bodied Merlot with a pleasant mouth feel. Noted hints of cherry on the nose and while tasting. Other tastes where more difficult to pull out but I noticed a background of soft tannins that complemented the flavors nicely. I had this wine with a somewhat spicy Mexican dish that paired very well together and even seem to bring out some of the wine's spiciness.
Soft fruit, although nothing specific on the nose. Dark cherry, balanced fruit with oaky tones....with a slight burn as it goes down.
I find this wine extremely smooth, full bodied and bursting with flavor at the end.

The Sterling Vintner's Collection Merlot is a clear ruby color with aromas of ripe blackberry, jammy red fruit, vanilla, nutmeg, dark chocolate, and toasty oak. On the palate are flavors of rich black fruits; ripe black cherries, blackberries and a lingering finish of fine grain tannins.
Aged in small oak barrels, this Merlot is the definition of an approachable red wine. The oak imparts subtle spicy vanilla notes on the nose, while plenty of dark fruit flavors keep the palate happy. This red goes with almost anything.
