Good value at under $20 from TJ's.
The bouquet blossomed like a purple rose as the wine opened and became richer, fuller, and even more vibrant. A voluptuous mouthfeel with a memorable finish.
THE wine to pair with food that is cilantro heavy, Serrano peppers, achiote, red onion, lime, fresh tortillas, sour cream, cotija cheese, steak / chicken . Opened a bit tight but 15 mins in decanter had mid palate develop more. Got deliciously sweet with increasingly spicier food. We enjoyed with Tapas style small plate street tacos. Awesome. Strawberry & Grape candy , a mild tannic pull, medium length finish.
This wine displays a deep ruby color with rich aromas of cherry and blackberry and a hint of coffee. The mouthfilling flavors of ripe black and red fruits, laced with spice, persist through the lengthy finish. Silky, ripe tannins structure the wine and contribute to the plush texture on the palate.
This wine maybe past its prime. Otherwise its a real disappointment coming from what I had thought was a premium napa valley winery. It has good balance but no complexity and a very weak finish.. Where are the tannins ? This wine is overpriced and not a good value for what its being sold for. There are much better california cabs for half the price.

Sterling Vineyards wines express true varietal character—that set of aromas and flavors a grape varietal develops when grown in the terroir that suits it best. Carefully selected winemaking methods highlight each wine’s unique personality and guarantee the high quality that distinguishes our reputation for impeccable taste. Sterling Vineyards Napa Appellation wines come from 14 diverse vineyards in this world-famous region, from the Carneros District in the south to the northern reaches of Calistoga. Wine: Our 2012 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a great illustration of this vintage, offering ripe, brambly fruits on a fleshy and broad canvas. The warm, dry conditions of the year allowed bold flavors and big tannins to develop, unfolding with boysenberry pie and fragrant baking spices. A burst of fresh fruit opens the palate, picking up red currants and hint of oak. Plush and long, the flavors span through the long finish, accented by a hint of spice. Vineyard: Framed by the Mayacamas Mountains to the west and the Vaca Range to the east, the Napa Valley extends from San Pablo Bay up to Mount St. Helena. Along this 30-mile stretch are 16 different sub-AVAs and twice as many microclimates and variations in soils. To capture the diversity and showcase the incredible range of this region, we selected fruit from multiple vineyards, pairing the concentrated color and tannins of mountain fruit with the broader, fleshier texture of valley fruit. Winemaking: At harvest, we collected fruit from several vineyards throughout the Napa Valley. The grapes were brought to the winery and allowed to rest in a cold soak for three days, gently extracting the rich color and aromas. To capture the unique profiles of the different vineyards, each lot was fermented separately. After 15 months of aging, we blended the lots together, creating a harmonious whole, expressive of Napa Valley. “It’s like a well-orchestrated choir,” explains Winemaker Alison Rodriguez. “We achieved a beautiful continuity and balance by blending several smaller parts together, much like bringing in sopranos, altos, tenors, baritones and bass.” Vintage: Following a few challenging vintages, 2012 was excellent. The weather was steady and even, almost textbook in its temperatures. The vines were well balanced and grapes ripened uniformly. Without weather issues, we harvested on our schedule, just as the fruit reached its optimal ripeness. - Winery Varietal Composition: 86% Cabernet Sauvignon 5% Cabernet Franc 3% Merlot 2% Malbec 2% Syrah 2% Petite Verdot Oak Aging: 50% French oak 40% American oak 10% Hungarian oak 27% new oak Alcohol: 14.6 % Acidity: 5.9 g/L pH: 3.75
Sterling Vineyards has a long history of producing outstanding wines in the Napa Valley. Ever since Peter Newton purchased vineyards in Calistoga and started planting Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, which at the time was radical, they've turned out world class selections. Now they’ve just released this Napa Valley Cab from the outstanding 2012 vintage. Grapes are sourced from their best growers throughout the Napa Valley. It's a complex blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 3% Merlot, 2% Malbec, 2% Syrah and 2% Petite Verdot. Each lot is vinified separately to bring forward its unique profile and strengths. To achieve the rich color and aromatics, the grapes are cold soaked for two days, followed by fermentation. Frequent pump-overs allowed plenty of contact between the juice and the skins for maximum extraction of flavors. The wine is aged 15 months in French, American and Hungarian oak and the final blend is made prior to bottling. For Napa Cab of this quality the value is amazing!
Smooth and elegant, our 2011 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon delivers the reputed charm of its pedigree. Intense aromas, led by toasty oak and spice, unfold with layers of cardamom, cedar, dark chocolate and anise over briary fruit. Velvety, plush and round, the palate delivers style and sophistication with enjoyable, rewarding accessibility. Layers of red fruit, brown sugar, and black licorice are joined by chocolately tannins that melt into a long finish. The cooler vintage left a lift of acid that makes it perfect for pairing with food. Try with a hearty mushroom tart, roasted pork loin or grilled meat. - WineryBarrel Aging: 12- 14 months46% French oak38% American oak16% European oakAlcohol: 14.6%Acidity: 5.9 g/L
